Mother's Day

I had a great Mother's Day this year with my wonderful family. The kids were very generous with their time and talents this year: Miss Bella made me a beautiful picture frame with a picture of her and Max in it and made me a fantastic card, in an envelope and wrapped in paper which she'd also lovingly colored; Max made me a fabulous candle with dried flowers pushed into the gel-like wax and a card in which he'd written "I love my momma;" Brighton also made me a home-made card with her wonderful "scribbles" all over the inside.

We followed tradition and went to the country club for brunch with Grandma Barbi, but broke tradition and did the zoo instead of the nursery after brunch. The thought of buying flowers and having to care for them in the garage because of this most unpredictable spring deterred us from our annual Mother's Day flower buying extravaganza.

The zoo was amazing, and all because of the peacocks - they were out in full-force and they were mating. At least that is what I assume they were doing since the males were all strutting their stuff - as you can see - and the females were running from them as if their lives were depended on it. The males were fighting over their gals - literally flying up into the air and diving for each other. Scared the bejesus out of me, but the kids found it quite entertaining.
How blessed we are with our beautiful, healthy and happy children.
Brighton had a ball riding the chipmunk after our walk through the wildlife - what a bug.
